Head Coach - Adam Barrett

Adam is our Head Coach here at Tilehurst swimming club with more than 20 years of experience within the sport both as an athlete and swimmer. He has a strong passion for swimming and aims to pass down much of the knowledge gained over the years to the swimmers of the club.
Previously a swimmer at Tilehurst before heading of to Loughborough University to gain a degree in Sport Science with Management and Development continued his swimming journey going from strength to strength having success both nationally and internationally, including medalling at the Commonwealth Games, European Championships, placing 4th at a World Championships and breaking multiple British Records during this time.
After deciding to retire from racing competitively Adam returned to Tilehurst Swimming Club in September 2017 where he has been part of the coaching staff since. Adam took over the role of Head Coach for Tilehurst in December 2021. Also in 2021, Adam returned to competitive swimming whilst continuing the role with Tilehurst Swimming Club and was part of the winning team in that season's International Swimming League and qualified for his second Commonwealth Games before deciding to retire from competitive swimming again in August 2022.
During his period of coaching with Tilehurst, Adam has coached swimmers to medals at county, regional and national level competitions in a variety of events whilst leading the club to its highest ever finish in the National Arena League Championships.
Adam has had great levels of exposure to some of the best coaches within the world of swimming during his career and uses much of the knowledge throughout the sessions at Tilehurst Swimming Club.
